Haleigh Cavalier, MPH
Haleigh earned a Master of Public Health from Columbia University in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, where she conducted children’s environmental health research in a NYC-based birth cohort. She also worked alongside Vital Strategies, a global health nonprofit, on developing and aggregating children’s environmental health indicators in low- and middle-income countries. She has worked for the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene where she contributed to projects assessing mental health impacts of gentrification, and climate and health as it applies to the intersection of food distribution systems and flood risk in NYC. Now, she is a PhD candidate working with Dr. Leonardo Trasande and Dr. Akhgar Ghassabian on the Children’s Health and Environment Study (CHES), investigating associations between prenatal exposure to pesticides, the maternal metabolome, and child neurodevelopment. Haleigh is passionate about translating environmental health science research to protective health policies and interventions.
